Key Highlights of the Agreement:

• Collaboration for Food Safety: The partnership signifies a commitment to uphold the highest standards of food safety and regulatory compliance. Avon Food Lab, with its state-of-the-art testing facilities, will provide comprehensive food testing services, ensuring that food products meet both Bhutanese and international standards.
• Scope of Testing: Avon Food Lab will carry out a wide range of tests on food products, including microbiological analysis, chemical residue testing, nutritional labeling, and contamination assessment. This collaboration aims to support BFDA-IS in safeguarding public health by ensuring the safety and quality of food imports and domestically produced food products in Bhutan.
• Strengthening Regulatory Enforcement: By partnering with Avon Food Lab, BFDA-IS will benefit from faster and more accurate testing services, allowing them to make informed decisions about food safety regulation and enforcement. This collaboration will also assist in the identification of any potential risks, contaminants, or non-compliance issues within the food supply chain.
• Capacity Building & Knowledge Exchange: The MOU also includes provisions for capacity building and knowledge exchange between Avon Food Lab and BFDA-IS. Avon Food Lab will offer training and technical expertise to Bhutanese officials, helping to strengthen Bhutan’s food safety infrastructure and regulatory framework.
